Your Username is Taken

It happens all the time! We’ve got the username edoceo at loads of sites across the Internet – for sure on the “top” sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

But, by the time we got around to looking at other sites (Periscope, Pokemon GO, Tumblr) and creating our accounts the desired username was already taken. Sad right. I’m sure it’s happened to you.

Now I’m sure that many sites are already reserving some names they know to be “valuable” – like if your username was “Amazon” or “Microsoft”. There are numerous lists of reserved names on the Internet. And Evan is really mad at Twitter regarding usernames.

Usernames are so valuable that Yahoo is now killing idle accounts, to recover names. And the HN community has discussed this issue at length.
